scope:
The present standard essentially explains the method of the so-called modular analysis, and its practical application makes a system of mutually compatible calculation modules available. For each calculation module a set of calculation equations specific to it is provided with which the motion of a typical basic assembly of planar mechanisms with revolute and prismatic joints with given drive parameters can be calculated. When more or less complexly structured gearing systems are to be analyzed, a sequence of calculation modules is put together from the defined basic modules in accordance with the structural configuration of the mechanism in such a way that - starting with the specified drive parameters and finishing with receipt of the output parameters desired - the output of one module serves in each case as an input for the modules which follow
The modular structure supports software implementation of the analysis of different mechanisms and with different problem formulations. The user implements the needed calculation modules within his software environment each as a sub-program with the defined input and output variables. To process a specific task he combines those sub-programs he requires and thereby creates a main program for that particular problem within his software environment
