General

This standard specifies survey methods for measuring the weighted sound pressure levels at prescribed microphone positions around a noise source. The Aweighted sound power level of the source is calculated from the measured values. This method may be applied in situ to sources which cannot be moved to a special test environment and to which the methods specified in ANSI S12.31-1990, ANSI S12.32-1990, ANSI S12.33-1990, ANSI S12.34-1988, and ANSI S 12.35- 1990 cannot be applied or should not be applied because they require too much effort
