Time-honored methods for detection of chemicals in near real-time remain important for exposure assessment and health protection, but the development of new compact and high-capability field analysis systems is accelerating. The combination of existing and new capabilities to identify and quantitatively measure chemicals in near real-time is changing the state-of-the-art for exposure assessment, and improving the capability of industrial hygienists and allied professionals to protect human health.
