Die ATV DIN 18379 „Raumlufttechnische Anlagen" gilt für das Herstellen von Raumlufttechnischen Anlagen (RLT-Anlagen), bei denen Luft mechanisch gefördert wird.

Die ATV DIN 18379 gilt nicht für das Herstellen von freien Lüftungssystemen und von Prozesslufttechnischen Anlagen, bei denen die Luft ausschließlich zur Durchführung eines technischen Prozesses innerhalb von Apparaten, Kabinen oder Maschinen gefördert wird.

Ergänzend gilt die ATV DIN 18299 „Allgemeine Regelungen für Bauarbeiten jeder Art", Abschnitte 1 bis 5. Bei Widersprüchen gehen die Regelungen der ATV DIN 18379 vor.
