This standard specifies requirements for screw plugs which are intended to be screwed into holes with parallel thread as specified in DIN 13-5 or DIN 13-6. Such plugs are used together with a suitable seal ring, the type and material of which are to be selected as a function of the operating conditions (e.g. the medium, temperature, pressure, etc.).

NOTE In deviation from the specifications of this standard, if screw plugs are intended to be used without a seal ring it is recommended that a Type B stud end according to DIN 3852-1 should be used.
