PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES: The purpose of an erosion and sediment control program is to allow the development of a highway facility while also accomplishing the three general erosion and sediment control objectives of (1) limiting off-site effects to acceptable levels, (2) facilitating project construction and minimizing overall costs, and (3) complying with Federal, State, and local regulations.
