VDI 2465 BLATT 2

Measurement of soot (ambient air) - Thermographic determination of elemental carbon after thermal desorption of organic carbon

active, Most Current
Organization: VDI
Publication Date: 1 November 2016
Status: active
Page Count: 18
ICS Code (Ambient atmospheres): 13.040.20
scope:

This standard describes a method for the thermographic determination of elemental carbon in atmospheric particles. It defines the general conditions for measurements at sites of high traffic density. When using the method at other types of site, the likelihood of artefacts, e.g. through an elevated fraction of organic carbon, must be taken into account.

This standard defines both the filter material and the temperature programme to be applied for the split between organic carbon compounds and elemental carbon in the analysis.

The actual sampling procedure is defined in DIN EN 12341, and is not the subject of this standard.
