Introduction

Note: Nothing in this standard supercedes applicable laws and regulations.

Note: In the event of conflict between the English and domestic language, the English language shall take precedence.

Purpose. To determine whether armrests in the interior of the vehicle are consistent with the latest requirements of:

• Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 201 (FMVSS 201).

• Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 201 (CMVSS 201).

• Korean Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 100 (KMVSS 100).

Applicability. Passenger cars and multi-purpose passenger vehicles, trucks and buses with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 4536 kg (10 000 lb) or less.

Remarks.

This test procedure contains the armrest tests associated with the requirements of CMVSS 201, FMVSS 201 and KMVSS 100.

Related test procedures are GMW14412 for seatback head impact, GMW14416 for instrument panel head impact, and GMW16609 for interior compartment doors.
