scope:

This guideline applies to qualifi cation tests of the knowledge and skills of welders, who are to perform welding work on thermoplastic materials for new products and repairs.

It shall apply in all cases where clients or others responsible for the area of application demand the use of certifi ed plastics welders.

This Guideline DVS 2212-1 deals with Hot-gas welding with torch separate from fi ller rod (WF), highspeed hot-gas welding (WZ), heated plate welding (HS), sleeve welding with incorporated electric heating element (HM) and heated tool sleeve welding (HD) on pipes, pipe components and panels made of the materials uPVC 1) , PE-HD, PP-H, PP-B, PP-R, PB, PVDF in qualifi cation test group I, and hot-gas extrusion welding (WE) on pipes and panels made of the materials PE-HD, PP-H, PP-B and PP-R in qualifi cation test group II, as per Tables 1 and 2.

The welding of lining membranes of PE-HD, ECB and PVC-P using the process of hot-gas extrusion welding (WE), hot-gas overlap welding (WU) and heated wedge welding (HH) is covered by Guideline DVS 2212, Part 3
