Purpose and scope

This Guideline applies to containers, apparatus and pipelines of thermoplastic materials used with and without pressure.

This guideline and the corresponding supplements describe the non-destructive testing of containers, apparatus and pipelines. They contain the basic principles and work instructions for various non-destructive test methods. Unless otherwise specifi ed, the tests can be employed for diff erent joining techniques and materials.

Laws, regulations and offi cial requirements that demand, extend or restrict the application of this guideline shall be taken into account separately.

The assessment of joint connections in Table 1 (page 4) applies to the materials and welding and test procedures in the corresponding supplement.

Application of the guideline for the testing of thermoplastic materials or joining techniques not covered by these supplements shall be agreed separately between the client and the contractor
