Applicability.
This regulation applies to the Active Army, the Army National Guard/Army National Guard of the United States, and the U.S. Army Reserve unless otherwise stated. Also, it applies to all current members of the U.S. Army Reserve assigned to the Selected Reserve, the Individual Ready Reserve, and the Standby Reserve. It applies to personnel serving on active duty under the U.S. Army Reserve - Active Guard Reserve - Program. It does not apply to U.S. Army Reserve personnel assigned to the Active Army (AR 601-280); Control Group (Reserve Officer's Training Corps) (AR 145-1); the United States Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, or the U.S. Air Force Academy (AR 612-205); or the U.S. Military Academy Preparatory School. During mobilization, policies and procedures contained in this regulatino may be modified by the proponent.
Purpose
This regulation prescribes policies, responsibilities, and procedures for the U.S. Army Reserve (USAR) Reenlistment Program.
It prescribes eligibility criteria for reenlistment and extensions.
It provides guidance for processing for continuing membership of the following personnel:
(1) Selected Reserve assignees-
(a) In troop program units (TPUs).
(b) In positions as individual mobilization augmentees (IMAs).
(c) On active duty (AD) in an Active Guard Reserve (AGR) status.
(2) Individual Ready Reserve assignees.
(3) Standby Reserve (Active List) assignees.
It provides guidance for commanders and reenlistment and retention personnel in conducting the USAR reenlistment program.
