CSA Preface

This is the second edition of CSA Standard CAN/CSA-E60335-2-44, Safety of household and similar electrical appliances-Part 2: Particular requirements for ironers, which is an adoption, with Canadian deviations, of the identically titled CEI/IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) Standard 60335-2-44 (second edition, 1997-09). It supersedes the previous edition, published in 1994 as CAN/CSA-E335-2-44 (adopted CEI/IEC 335-2-44:1987)

This Standard was reviewed for Canadian adoption by the CSA Technical Committee on International Standards under the jurisdiction of the Strategic Resource Group, and has been formally approved by the Technical Committee. A list of the members of the Technical Committee is available upon request. This Standard has been approved as a National Standard of Canada by the Standards Council of Canada.

Interpretations: The Strategic Resource Group has provided the following direction for the interpretation of standards under its jurisdiction: "The literal text shall be used in judging compliance of products with the safety requirements of this Standard. When the literal text cannot be applied to the product, such as for new materials or construction, and when a relevant committee interpretation has not already been published, CSA's procedures for interpretation shall be followed to determine the intended safety principle."
