scope:
This standard describes the cleaning, activation and under-plating process, and material required for aluminum and aluminum alloys prior to applying inorganic coatings. It is intended that this standard be used in conjunction with other process documents, where the technical requirements are for the application of surface treatments and inorganic coatings on aluminum and aluminum aloys.
Classification.
This standard covers the following cleaning methods and surface pre-treatment process.
Surface Cleaning.
Clean surface in accordance with paragraph 5.1.
Surface Preparation.
Prepare surface for anodizing and conversion coating in accordance with paragraph 5.2.
Preparation for Plating.
Prepare for plating in accordance with paragraph 5.3.
