scope:
This part of the standard is applicable to floating leisure articles for use on and in the water. It specifies specific safety requirements related to performance, design, sizing and marking as well as test methods for Class D devices regardless whether they are inflatable or made from inherent buoyant material. Class D devices are applicable by persons of any age with the restriction of the capability to swim. The devices are intended for: . active use on the water surface; . to embark one or several persons on the buoyant structure with out any risk of entrapment through surrounding holding structures (devices not being worn or held); . for jumping, climbing, playing and any other related activity on the inflatable. The devices are not intended to provide protection to the user as far as water safety is concerned. They are in no case PPE. This standard is not applicable for constant air floating devises.
