This Part 7 of the standard is applicable to inflatable boats and boats made from inherent buoyant materials (e.g. hard foam) of buoyancy less than 1 800 N and an overall length ¡Ü 120 cm, independent of the materials used and hereafter called "boats" for short, which are intended for use in bathing areas or in protected and safe shore zones. These boats may be propelled by manual means, motors or sails. This standard is not applicable to aquatic toys (aquatic toys in form of a boat) in accordance with EN 71-1. NOTE The buoyancy is equated to the volume of the chambers. This standard specifies the minimum safety and performance requirements. For boats of buoyancy greater than 1 800 N, see EN ISO 6185-1 to EN ISO 6185-3. Depending on the type of propelling means of the boat, the following clauses of the standard are not applicable.
