scope:
This standard specifies the requirements of processed wood material, for Board; Plywood, Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) and Fibreboard, Solid, Kraft-Lined Chipboard, and Orientated Strand board (OSB).
This material is for the construction of containers and furniture to Military Levels for the packaging of Service materiel.
This standard does not consider the design of containers or furniture; refer to Def Stan 81-041 (Part 2) and related specifications.
Packaging is considered to be a structural application.
Plywood for Special-to-Contents (STC) containers (STCC) for RAF use shall only use temperate softwood
Orientated Stand Board (OSB) is to BS EN 300 and so is not included in this standard as an Annex
Note 1; this standard specifies the minimum grades in material classification as required by the MOD for a given packaging level.
