Purpose.
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety guidance published in the Department of Labor (DoL) 29 series Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) provides workers a safe and healthy workplace. OSHA dictates what must be accomplished in the workplace, but not necessarily how it will be accomplished, or by whom.
Commanders are responsible for the safety of their facilities and personnel, including the correction of all hazards and deficiencies in their workplaces. This instruction assigns responsibilities to individuals or functions to help Commanders manage their safety and health programs, ensuring they comply with OSHA and Air Force guidance.
