Dieser Teil 2 der IEC 62320 legt die betrieblichen und Leistungsanforderungen, Prüfverfahren und geforderten Prüfergebnisse für AIS-AtoN-Stationen kompatibel zu den mit IMO-Resolution MSC.74(69), Annex 3, Universal AIS, angenommenen Leistungsstandards fest. Er beinhaltet die technischen Kennwerte für nicht-schiffsseitige AIS-AtoN-Geräte nach ITU-R-Empfehlung M.1371 und IALA-Empfehlung A-126. Wo zutreffend, werden auch die ITU-Funkregulierungen mit berücksichtigt. Diese Norm beachtet auch andere zugehörige internationale IEC-Normen sowie existierende nationale Normen, wenn anwendbar.
