This specification covers rubber tubing for air injection reactor usage and rubber tubing for carrying low pres¬sure air, and which is intended to withstand continu¬ous service temperatures from -40 to +125 C. The rubber materials described by this specification are not suitable for the transport of air contaminated with fuel, oil, or other hydrocarbons.

Material Description

Material Identification.

Rubber Tube Material.

Material per SAE J200 M3CA707 Z1, Z2. Z3, Z4, Z5, Z6, Z7, Z8, Z9

Z1: Polymer must be all EPDM.

Z2: Ozone Resistance Part must have a rating of zero when tested per GM4486P (Y).

Z3: Heat Resistance (ASTM D865), 168 h at 150 C.

Change in harness, max: ± 15 pts. Shore A

Change in tensile strength, max:30% Change in elongation, max:70% Z4:

Compression Set (ASTM D395, Method B), 70 h at 150o C.

Compression set max:75%

Z5: Kink Resistance: Collapse max: seeTable 2

Z6: Burst Strength (ASTM D380): Burst strength, min 520kPa

Z7: Paint Panel Staining (GMyyUZP): Paint panel staining, max:40 Δb

Z8: Bloom

Construction. The tubing shall be constructed of a single extrusion of EPDM rubber. The tubing shall be black.

Dimensions and Tolerances. The recom-mended standard dimensions and tolerances for this tubing, and metal fittings

Tube Marking. The tube shall be legible marked with the following information: manufacturer's RMA code identification, and date code. Such marking shall be printed parallel to the axis in block letters not leee than 3 mm high and the open space between the specified markings shall not exceed 25 mm

The date code shall consist of six digits: the first two digits shall represent the month (01 through 12) of the year, the next two shall represent the day of the month (01 through 31), and the last two shall be the last two digits of the year.
