Dieser Teil von IEC 61755 legt bestimmte Grenzmaße fest, die eine optische Schnittstelle mit einer Einmoden-Quarzglasfaser mit einem Durchmesser von 125 μm und mit einer Ausrichtungsbohrung erfüllen muss, um den spezifischen Anforderungen an die Verbindung zwischen Fasern nach den Festlegungen in IEC 61755-2-1 zu entsprechen. Die in diesem Dokument festgelegten Werkstoffe von Quarzglasfasern sind geeignet für die Verwendung in den Kategorien C, U, E und O nach IEC 61753-1.
