This standard is concerned with belt grinding as a machining process for metal materials, which is defined in DIN 8589-12 as chip removal with geometrically undefined cutting edges.
The aim of this standard is to provide an overview of belt grinding. It covers the types of abrasive belt and machine systems currently in use as well as belt grinding technology. In addition, it gives examples of belt grinding applications in the Annex.
This standard is aimed towards production engineers and machine operators and is designed to assist them in process planning and organisation and also in the design of belt grinding processes.
