scope:

Ahlia University contributes to the advancement and propagation of knowledge by encouraging its academics and research students to publish their original research that can be applied to real-life situations. Co-operation with Brunel University London in the United Kingdom led to the establishing of a Ph.D. programme at Ahlia University in 2005.
An important annual feature of the programme is the two-day symposium held at Ahlia University at which students are expected to give a presentation on their research to date. After the symposium, each participating student records the contents of his/her presentation in a research paper.

This volume contains the proceedings of the workshop held in 2014. The majority of students carry out research related to a wide variety of topics in business and management and this is reflected in this book. Special feature of the contributions is the many original areas of application it covers that are related to the Arab world. These include the banking sector, female entrepreneurship and leadership in corporate boardrooms, healthcare, quality assurance, crisis management and business continuity in the oil sector, and aspects of organization in secondary and higher education.
