The use of combustion appliances in the home can generate levels of carbon monoxide (CO) that may affect the health of the occupants. Each year, about 60 accidental deaths occur in the UK from the use of these appliances and there are many more non-fatal incidents.This Guide makes recommendations for CO detection systems in the home, based on the requirements for early detection, audibility and the need to minimise cost.
