scope:
This standard applies to all Routes where SAWDs haves been installed at footpath and bridleway level crossings.
It details the processes for:
a) asset management of SAWDs;
b) planned corrective and preventative maintenance; and
c) reactive maintenance / fault response arrangements.
This standard applies to the National Helpline team, Route Control staff and staff within Maintenance Delivery Units (DUs), namely Signalling & Telecoms Maintenance Engineers and their respective teams.
This standard sets out and defines key roles and responsibilities within Route teams for each of the three activities detailed above
Purpose
The purpose of this standard is to support the wider roll out and installation of Supplementary Audible Warning Devices (SAWDs) by setting out the maintenance arrangements that have been agreed for this product.
This supports management of the risk associated with footpath and bridleway level crossings that are protected by whistle boards.
