NAVY - MIL-STD-1587D

MATERIAL AND PROCESS REQUIREMENTS FOR AEROSPACE WEAPONS SYSTEMS

inactive
Organization: NAVY
Publication Date: 21 June 2017
Status: inactive
Page Count: 34
scope:

This standard establishes the requirements for materials and processes used during design and production of aerospace weapons systems. When used in conjunction with MIL-STD-1530, the other integrity program documents (MIL-STD-1798, MIL-HDBK-1783, etc.), and MIL-STD-1568, it is expected that structurally reliable aerospace systems having a good balance between acquisition costs and life cycle costs will result. Authority to exceed or amend the requirements in this standard requires permission from the cognizant engineering authority (CEA) of the procuring activity.

Applicability. This standard is applicable for use by all Department of Defense procuring activities and their respective contractors involved in the design and procurement of aerospace weapons systems. Numerous materials and processes used in propulsion and electronic subsystems and ground support equipment are not specifically covered in this standard.

intended Use:

This design standard provides design criteria that provides timely and comprehensive consideration during systems design of the limitation of materials and processes and of the lessons learned... View More
