Bu standard, toprak islah edicilerin veya yetistirme ortamininfiziksel ozellikleri, kuru yigin yogunlugu, su hacmi, hava hacmi,buzulme degeri ve toprak gozemek boslugunun rutin tayini icinaletsel bir metodu kapsar. Bu standard, uygun kilcal temasolusturmaya veya onceden sekillenen, partikul haline gelmeyen vekapali gozeneklere sahip kaba malzemeler icin uygun degildir. Bustandard 25 mm ve daha kucuk tanecikli malzemelere ve/veya 80 mm vedaha kucuk esnek liflere uygulanabilir.
