Bu Uluslararasi Standard, makinelerin emisyon ses basincseviyelerinin is istasyonu veya diger belirli konumlarda sessiddeti kullanilarak yerinde belirlenmesi icin kullanilan birmuhendislik yontemini (dogruluk derecesi 2) kapsar. Bu standardyerinde olcumler icin kullanilan ISO 11201, ISO 11202 ve ISO 11204icin bir alternatif olusturmaktadir. Arka plan gurultusu ve alangostergeleri ile ilgili gerekler karsilandigi surece yontem, hercesit deney ortaminda kullanilabilir.
