This European Standard specifies the safety and hygienerequirements for the design and construction of automatic fishheading and fish filleting machines, and using knives. ThisEuropean Standard applies to machinery and equipment for theheading and filleting of fish in the fish processing industry. ThisEuropean Standard deals with all significant hazards, hazardoussituations, and events relevant to fish heading and filletingmachines when they are used as intended and under conditions ofmisuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer (seeClause 4). It deals with the hazards during the following phases ofthe intended use: assembly and installation, commissioning, settingand adjusting, operation, cleaning, fault finding, and maintenance.When drawing up this European Standard, the following assumptionswere made:- only trained adult persons operate the machines; - themachines are used in workplaces with an illumination level that canbe reasonably expected in such places. This European Standard isnot applicable to fish heading and filleting machines that aremanufactured before the date of its publication as an EN.
