"This European Standard specifies requirements, test methods andperformance criteria for point detectors using carbon monoxidesensing for use in fire detection and fire alarm systems in andaround buildings (see EN 54-1:2011). This European Standardprovides for the assessment and verification of consistency ofperformance (AVCP) of carbon monoxide point detectors to this EN.This European Standard does not cover fire detectors incorporatingat least one CO sensing element in combination with other elementssensing different fire phenomena. CO detectors having specialcharacteristics suitable for the detection of specific fire risksare not covered by this European Standard. The performancerequirements for any additional functions are beyond the scope ofthis European Standard (e.g. additional features or enhancedunctionality for which this standard does not define a test orassessment method)."
