The standard applies to all afocal (plano power) productsintended for direct observation of the Sun, such as solar eclipseviewing. This standard does not apply to: -afocal (plano power)sunglasses and clip-ons for general use intended for protectionagainst solar radiation - eyewear for protection against radiationfrom artificial light sources, such as those used in solaria - eyeprotectors specifically intended for sports, for which separatestandards are available (e.g. ski goggles or other types) -sunglasses that have been medically prescript for attenuating solarradiation
