scope:

This Standard specifies the safety requirements and theirverification for the design and construction of hand-heldcombustion engine powered and back-pack combustion engine powered,garden vacuums and garden blower/vacuums with or without shreddingmeans and garden blowers, designed for one operator only. Inaddition, it specifies the type of information on safe workingpractices (including residual risks) to be provided by themanufacturer. Throughout this European Standard the term 'machine'is used to mean all the types of garden blowers and vacuums coveredby it. This European Standard deals, with all hazards, hazardoussituations and events relevant to these machines when they are usedas intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer(see Clause 4), except for: ? vibration of backpack machines; ?structural integrity for blowers and blower vacuums; ? strength forharnesses and back-pack supports. This Standard is not applicableto: ? walk-behind, hand-guided (support-wheeled) and ride-onmachines; ? mains driven and battery powered blowers and vacuums ofcombinations thereof;
