This part of ISO 7148 specifies tribological tests of metallicbearing materials for plain bearings under conditions of boundarylubrication. The test procedures described in this part of ISO 7148enable the friction and wear behaviour of bearingmaterial/mating/lubricant combinations to be compared with that ofother combinations, thus facilitating the selection of a bearingmaterial for running repeatedly or for long periods underconditions of boundary lubrication, low speed and continuoussliding. Owing to differences in test conditions, measured frictionand wear values can be expected to vary from one test facility toanother. The test results give useful information for practicalapplication only if all parameters of influence are identical. Themore the test conditions deviate from the actual application, thegreater the uncertainty of the applicability of the results.
