This International Standard specifies dimensions and safetyrequirements for manually operated and power-driven couplingdevices used for assembling inland navigation vessels as a push towor vessels coupled alongside by means of wire rope connections. Thecoupling device secures the stable positioning of the coupledvessels. Requirements for the safety to protect operators fromaccidents during the creation, operation, and separation of thewire rope connections of push tows and vessels coupled alongsideare contained in this International Standard. It also gives rulesfor designation and testing.
