TSE - TS EN 14038-1

Electrochemical realkalization and chloride extraction treatments for reinforced concrete - Part 1: Realkalization

active, Most Current
Organization: TSE
Publication Date: 9 January 2017
Status: active
ICS Code (Concrete structures): 91.080.40
scope:

This standard specifies a procedure for carrying out impressedcurrent electrochemical realkalization (ER) of carbonatedreinforced concrete in existing structures. It is applicable toatmospherically exposed parts of structures with ordinaryreinforcement embedded in concrete. This standard does not apply toconcrete containing prestressing steel which can suffer hydrogenembrittlement during realkalization, or to concrete containingepoxy-coated or galvanized reinforcement, or if chloridecontamination is contributing to reinforcement corrosion. NOTE Incase of post-tensioned prestressing concrete, the endangered tendonstrands may be shielded by the tendon ducts from unwanted and/ orexceeded polarization into the cathodic range and respective waterreduction.
