This Part of EN 45545 specifies the fire safety requirements forelectrical equipment on railway vehicles, including that of trolleybuses, track guided buses and magnetic levitation vehicles. Themeasures and requirements, specified in this European Standard meetthe objective of protecting passengers and staff in railwayvehicles in the event of a fire on board by: ? lowering the risk ofstarting a fire both during operation and as a result of technicaldefect and/or malfunction of the electrical equipment, ? ensuringthat electrical emergency equipment continues to be functionaluntil evacuation is complete (see EN 45545-6).
