scope:

This European Standard specifies the requirements for factorymade products of extruded polystyrene foam, with or without facingsor coatings, which are used for thermal insulation of buildings.The products are manufactured in the form of boards which are alsoavailable with special edge and surface treatment (tongue &grooves, shiplap etc.). Products covered by this standard are alsoused in prefabricated thermal insulating systems and compositepanels; the performance of systems incorporating these products isnot covered. This standard describes product characteristics andincludes procedures for testing, evaluation of conformity, markingand labelling. The standard does not specify the required level ofa given property to be achieved by a product to demonstrate fitnessfor purpose in a particular application. The levels required for agiven application are to be found in regulations or non-conflictingstandards. Products with a declared thermal resistance lower than0,25 m??K/W or a declared thermal conductivity greater than 0,060W/(m?K) at 10 ?C are not covered by this standard. This standarddoes not cover in situ insulation products, nor products intendedto be used for the insulation of building equipment and industrialinstallations (covered by EN 14307), or civil engineeringapplications (covered by EN 14934).
