This European Standard applies to testing of rails installed intrack for detecting internal discontinuities. This part applies totesting equipment fitted to dedicated test vehicles ormanually-propelled devices. This European Standard does not definethe requirements for vehicle acceptance. This part of the standarddoes not apply to ultrasonic testing of rails in a productionplant. The European Standard specifies the requirements for testingprinciples and systems in order to produce comparable results withregard to location, type and size of discontinuities in rails. ThisEuropean Standard is not aiming to give any guidelines for managingthe result of ultrasonic rail testing. This European Standardapplies only to rail profiles meeting the requirements of EN13674-1.
