This European Standard specifies the definitions andrequirements for buried manholes and inspection chambers installedin non-pressure drainage and sewerage systems to a maximum depth of6 m from ground level to the invert of the main chamber andmanufactured from unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-U),polypropylene (PP), polypropylene with mineral modifier (PP-MD) orpolyethylene (PE). These products are intended for use inpedestrian or vehicular traffic areas and underground installationsconforming to the general requirements given in EN 476 and are usedoutside the building structure (application area code ?U?). Theyare therefore marked accordingly with a ?U?. Such products are alsodeemed to meet the requirements of EN 13598-1 for application areaU without the need for further testing. These manholes andinspection chambers may also be used for storm-water systems. ThisEuropean Standard is only applicable to those chamber / manholecomponents (base, riser, cone telescopic part and other nearsurface components) where the manufacturer has clearly stated inthe documentation how the components shall be assembled to create acomplete manhole or inspection chamber. This European standard onlycovers manholes and chambers with flow profile bases with orwithout sloping channels. It also covers the jointing of thecomponent to the pipework system.
