TSE - TS ISO 7718-2

Aircraft - Passenger doors interface requirements for connection of passenger boarding bridge - Part 2: Upper deck doors

active, Most Current
Organization: TSE
Publication Date: 27 August 2015
Status: active
ICS Code (Ground service and maintenance equipment): 49.100
scope:

This part of ISO 7718 specifies minimum requirements fordimensions and unobstructed space around upper deck passenger doorsof future types of civil-passenger transport aircraft when they areintended to be compatible with passenger boarding bridges existing,or being planned, in airports worldwide. This part of ISO 7718 isnot necessarily applicable to existing models of civil transportaircraft, or derivative models with the same fuselage. However, itis expected that the design of such aircraft types be taken intoaccount in the design of passenger boarding bridges capable ofupper deck servicing, in addition to this part of ISO 7718. Thispart of ISO 7718 is not intended to restrict in any way the basicdesign of any future types of civilpassenger transport aircraft. However, it aims to clarify for aircraft-design engineers thedesign characteristics that would make it difficult, or impossible, for a new type of aircraft to connect adequately with existingairport passenger boarding bridges. If, on a future model, basicaircraft-design requirements impose certain dimensionalcharacteristics that do not comply with this part of ISO 7718, oneof the following will apply, and in each case, aircraft-handlingconstraints and operating costs will increase: ? alternativemethods of embarking/disembarking passengers (e.g. integralaircraft stairs) will need to be implemented; or ? existing upperdeck passenger boarding bridges will need to be modified/reworkedto some extent in the airports where this type of new aircraft willoperate; or ? additional interface devices/equipment will be neededto connect this type of new aircraft with existing upper deckpassenger boarding bridges.
