This lnternational Standard establishes a classification ofseries 1 freight containers based on external dimensions, andspecifies the associated ratings and, where appropriate, theminimum internal and door opening dimensions for certain types ofcontainers. These containers are intended for intercontinentaltraffic. This International Standard summarizes the external andsome of the internal dimensions of series 1 containers. Thedimensions of each type of container are defined in the appropriatepart of ISO 1496, which is the authoritative document for internalcontainer dimensions.
