This part of ISO 15012 defines the general requirements forventilation equipment used to control exposure to fumes generatedby welding and allied processes. It applies to the design andmanufacture of all parts of the equipment including hoods, ducting,filter units, air movers, systems that inform of unsafe operationand workplace practices to ensure safe working with regard toexposure. Significant hazards are listed in Clause 4. It does notcover electrical, mechanical and pneumatic hazards. This part ofISO 15012 is applicable to the following: ? local exhaustventilation systems (LEV); ? mobile and stationary equipment. Thispart of ISO 15012 is not applicable to the following: ? generalventilation, air make up or air movement systems; ? airconditioning systems; ? separation of gases generated by or used bywelding and allied processes; ? LEV used for welding and alliedprocesses that generate reactive potentially explosive particlesand atmospheres; ? grinding dust. This part of ISO 15012 applies tosystems designed and manufactured after its publication.
