This part of IEC 61291 provides a performance specificationtemplate which applies to optical amplifiers (OAs) to be used insingle channel applications. Multichannel applications are coveredin IEC 61291-4. The object of this performance specificationtemplate is to provide a frame for the preparation of performancestandards and/or product specifications on the performance of OAdevices to be used in single channel applications. In theperformance standards or product specifications, otherspecifications such as ratings, operating conditions, tests andpass/fail criteria could be included in addition to therequirements based on this performance specification template.Product specification writers may add specification parametersand/or groups of specification parameters for particularapplications. However, product specification writers should notremove specification parameters specified in this standard.
