This document specifies techniques for detection of surfaceimperfections in welds in ferromagnetic materials, including theheat affected zones, by means of magnetic particle testing. Thetechniques are suitable for most welding processes and jointconfigurations. Variations in the basic techniques that willprovide a higher or lower test sensitivity are described in AnnexA. This document does not specify acceptance levels of theindications. Further information on acceptance levels forindications may be found in ISO 23278 or in product or applicationstandards.
