Bu standard, yaglamali veya yaglama olmaksizin, yuk, kayma hizive sicaklik gibi belli calisma kosullari altinda polimer esaslikaymali yatak malzemelerinin surtunme deneylerini kapsar. Deneysonuclarindan, metal-polimer ve polimer-polimer kaucuk kisimlarininizafi surtunme davranisini gosteren bilgi elde edilir. Bustandardin amaci, yaglamali (sinirli yaglama) ve yaglama olmaksizin(kuru yuzeyler) belirlenmis ve tam olarak kaymali yataklardakullanilan polimer malzeme kombinasyonlari icin tanimlanmis deneykosullari altinda surtunme ve asinma icin uyarli (yenidenolusturulabilir) olculmus degerler elde etmektir. Deney sonuclari,etkileyen tum parametreler ayniysa, pratik uygulama icin faydalibilgi verir. Gercek uygulamalardan ne kadar cok deney kosullarisaparsa, sonuclarin uygulanabilirliginin belirsizligi o kadarartar.
