This International Standard specifies a static method fordetermining the sound output performance and alarm activationrequirements of audible travel alarms and forward horns mounted onearth-moving machinery, as defined in ISO 6165, for operation onwork sites and travelling on public roads. It offers objective testmethodologies and performance criteria. It is applicable only tothose alarms and horns that are installed on the earth-movingmachinery. It does not specify the installation of one or moreaudible travel alarms or forward horns on particular machines. Itaddresses neither the laboratory testing of warning alarmfunctionality nor durability. NOTE Earth-moving machinemanufacturer's practices, worksite requirements and local, nationalor regional regulations could require the fitting of the alarms orhorns specified in this International Standard.
