This part of IEC 60384 is applicable to fixed surface mountcapacitors for direct current, with metallized electrodes andpolyethylene-terephthalate dielectric for use in electronicequipment. These capacitors have metallized connecting pads orsoldering strips and are intended to be mounted directly ontosubstrates for hybrid circuits or onto printed boards. Thesecapacitors may have "self-healing properties" depending onconditions of use. They are primarily intended for applicationswhere the a.c. component is small with respect to the ratedvoltage. Capacitors for electromagnetic interference suppressionare not included, but are covered by IEC 60384-14.
