scope:

This European Standard specifies the safety requirements for theinterface between the work platform and the truck when designed forlifting of persons (covered by prEN 1459-1:2014, FprEN 1459-2:2015or EN 1459:1998+A3:2012). This European Standard deals with thesignificant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant tothe interface when it is used as intended and under conditions ofmisuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer of thetruck. The significant hazards covered by this standard are listedin Annex A with the exception of hazards listed below. ThisEuropean Standard does not address hazards which may occur: a) whenhandling suspended work platforms which may swing freely; b) whenusing non-integrated work platforms or other attachments notintended for the lifting of persons; c) when operating inpotentially explosive atmospheres. This European Standard does notgive requirements for the complete truck fitted with a workplatform. This standard does not address risks to parts of thetruck other than the interface with the work platform.
