This part of ISO 148 specifies the requirements, preparation andmethods for qualifying test pieces used for the indirectverification of pendulum impact testing machines in accordance withISO 148-2. It specifies notched test pieces with nominal dimensionsidentical to those specified in ISO 148-1; however, the tolerancesare more stringent. NOTE 1 The chemical composition or heattreatment, or both, are varied according to the energy leveldesired. NOTE 2 Reference test pieces are qualified on referencependulum impact testing machines which are also described in thispart of ISO 148.
