| Organization: | NR |
| Publication Date: | 2 September 2017 |
| Status: | active |
| Page Count: | 16 |
scope:
This document applies to designers of new 25 kV electrification (Overhead Contact Line System and Substations) only.
It does not cover safety requirements driven by other areas of legislation such as Management of Health and Safety at Work (MoHaSaW) 1992, The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM) and The Railways and Other Guided Transport Systems (Safety) Regulations 2006 (ROGS), and the applicability of the Regulation on a common safety method (CSM) for risk evaluation and assessment (or 'the CSM RA') beyond the areas covered by the Electrical Principles. Compliance with these in support of the case for energisation of new electrification assets remains the responsibility of individual projects.
Purpose
This document provides design principles for new electrification projects that will mitigate the risks of working on or near electrified railways.
