This European standard is a product specification, giving minimum performance requirements for non
plumbed-in emergency safety eyewash units.
In the whole text the term "non plumbed-in emergency safety eyewash unit" is referred to as "eyewash unit".
Requirements are also given concerning labelling, marking and information to be supplied by manufacturers.
It is applicable to eyewash units filled with a rinsing fluid by the manufacturer and to empty devices to be filled prior to putting into service. Both variations are for first aid use when the eyes have been exposed to harmful substances.
